As reported in previous newsletters, students, teachers and researchers – from both De Haagse Hogeschool and the University of Curaçao – have been working since 2023 to develop and adapt the Food Boost Challenge to the situation in Curaçao.
With a grant from the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, the University of Curaçao worked virtually with the Lectorate Healthy Lifestyle in a Stimulating Environment and the School of Nutrition & Dietetics (Faculty of Health, Nutrition and Sport).
In order to sustainably improve the lifestyle of young people in Curaçao, a grant has now been applied for under the ZonMw Caribbean Health Research Programme to implement a full, live Food Boost Challenge in Curaçao. This will not only continue the relationship between the two research institutions, but also expand the Food Boost Challenge community with new local partners such as Fundashon Prevenshon, the Caribbean Prevention Centre and the Ministry of Public Health, Environment and Nature.
The day after the application, the Food Boost Challenge was front page news in the Antilliaans Dagblad!
