The student team Flatta from Inholland University of Applied Sciences has been declared winner of the Food Boost Challenge 2025 by both the professional jury and the public. Their innovative idea of using flatbreads, consisting of 30% vegetables and rich in fibre, to entice young people to make healthier and more plant-based choices, was voted the most promising concept of this edition. Winning the expert jury prize and the audience award together, this team clinched both top prizes: the two cash vouchers worth €2.500,- and €500,- respectively.
In addition to the jury prize, Team Flatta also won the audience prize with 24% of almost 700 votes. Team Power Bites from MBO Westland won the runner-up prize with 17% of the votes.
The expert jury chose Team Food Boost Truck as runner up. This concept involves a food truck that visits schools, and then spends two months on duty at a school. The social aspect of food education for schoolchildren by schoolchildren appealed to the expert jury, as did a well thought-out plan for realistic implementation. Third place went to Team Nourish, which wants to make it easier and faster for young people to make healthier choices in the supermarket by means of a specially designed supermarket shelf. An innovative concept, but one that needs to be worked out in such a way that it fits within current claims legislation. Team Food Boost Truck and Team Nourish are both from Hotelschool The Hague.
During the finals at the World Horti Center in Naaldwijk, ten youth teams – from secondary and higher vocational schools – pitched their idea to the public and the professional jury. Ten concrete solutions to entice young people between the ages of 15 and 20 to make healthier and more plant-based choices more often. You can find the ten ideas here.
